Overview
Position: Machine Operator Level 2 (Day & Night Shift Available)
Department: Operations - Packaging
Reporting structure: Reports to Manager Production.
Reporting to this position:
No direct reports
- Operate Tube Filling lines such as Nordenmatic, Unipac and Axomatic.
- Operate Simplex & Kalix production equipment in accordance with established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines.
- Ensure that all appropriate safety measures are in place and tested for proper operation. Operator has authority to stop line if safety violation is detected.
- Clean and sanitize assigned filling lines.
- Troubleshoot and perform minimal change-overs of fillers.
- Oversee assembly lines to monitor quality and quantity.
- Communicate to supervision when equipment setup and change-over is needed.
- Supply production materials to the line to avoid interruption.
- Perform ongoing inspections of in-process production to ensure machines are operating at maximum efficiency.
- Assess and identify machine performance or safety issues and seek mechanical help for proper resolution through inspections, tests, and adjustments to meet standards of machine performance.
- Maintain all necessary production and quality paperwork to ensure proper documentation of line activity.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment around the packaging line.
- Daily housekeeping maintenance of equipment to minimize potential contamination.
- Work with line mechanics to ensure minimal line downtime for mechanical difficulties.
- Collect data regarding line speeds, write pallet tickets when required, and oversee line crew if necessary.
- Palletize line product when required.
- Ensure that all quality specifications and/or quality tests are followed. Operator has authority to stop line if a quality issue arises.
- Attend departmental meetings and provide training as required to lower-level operators.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic Microsoft Office computer knowledge.
- Must communicate effectively using basic English communication and written skills.
- Ability to actively communicate with supervision regarding machine difficulties when required.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, oversee the operation of multiple machines on the assigned line.
- Able to perform complicated machine operation tasks with minimal supervision.
- Has basic working knowledge and understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand for prolonged periods, walk, and use hands to handle objects; reach with hands and arms; lift packages up to and exceeding 25 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field or related area. Vocational training in mechanical machine operations is beneficial.
