About Us

Marine Electric Systems designs and manufactures rugged electrical assemblies for marine and industrial applications, including instrument housing, meters, sheet-metal panels, and PC-board assemblies used in demanding maritime environments. We deliver mission-critical products where reliability, traceability and workmanship matter.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Assembler with strong hands-on experience soldering PC boards and assembling cable harnesses. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-driven, and comfortable working from wiring diagrams, BOMs and assembly travelers. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) experience is a strong plus. This role is primarily bench-level assembly of electronics and cable systems for marine electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality soldering of printed circuit boards (through-hole and component rework); maintain consistent solder joints and component placement.
  • Fabricate and assemble cable harnesses and wire assemblies: strip, crimp, terminate, solder where required, apply heat-shrink, and dress harnesses per drawing.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, harness drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Follow assembly travelers and standard work instructions to build assemblies and sub-assemblies to specification.
  • Use hand tools and powered crimpers, crimp dies, soldering irons, hot air stations, microscopes/inspection optics, and test equipment (multimeter, continuity testers).
  • Execute electrical and continuity tests on harnesses and PCBs; record and report results.
  • Apply and follow ESD controls, safety procedures, and clean work practices.
  • Perform basic SMT tasks as needed (component placement, reflow monitoring) — SMT experience is a plus and will be utilized when available.
  • Ensure traceability and accurate labeling of assemblies and components. Complete required documentation, traveler sign-offs, and inspection records.
  • Identify and report non-conformances; assist in corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen (required) and able to provide proof of citizenship.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in electronics assembly with proven soldering and cable/wire harness experience.
  • Proficient in hand soldering (through-hole and rework); comfortable using magnification/inspection tools.
  • Strong wire harness skills: stripping, crimping, terminal insertion, heat-shrink, cable routing and labeling.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and BOMs.
  • Familiarity with basic test equipment (DMM, continuity tester) and basic electrical test methods.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to follow written work instructions, assembly drawings, and quality standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work on-site full-time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with marine or industrial electrical assemblies (housings, meters, panel assemblies).
  • Experience with SMT processes, pick-and-place or reflow ovens.
  • IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 soldering certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with cable management systems, MIL-spec or marine-grade wiring practices.
  • Experience with ERP/production tracking systems and electronic assembly travelers.
  • Basic knowledge of RoHS and ESD control procedures.
