Overview
This position will oversee the functions of the Imports Department to include CTPAT, Social Compliance, Product Testing, Classification and US Customs clearances. This individual will ensure adherence to all company and government regulations around customs, FDA, CPSC, APHIS, C-TPAT, and similar. The Import Manager will develop and implement import training materials and ensure the team is cross-trained in all functions and aspects of the department.
In addition, this person must provide solid leadership, coaching, direction, and motivate the team to work together in the most efficient manner.
- Maintains an accurate understanding of all regulatory requirements and manages compliance of Burlington direct import purchases to internal and governmental expectations, including required and/or expected documentation.
- Develops improved processes and discloses system improvement opportunities. Schedules compliance training and maintains training materials and records.
- Ensures organizational (including Broker) compliance with Federal and State regulatory agencies, including but not limited to Customs Audits, CTPAT annual renewals, and ISA annual validation.
- Intercedes with broker and US Customs as necessary to ensure compliance, expedite entry release, perform post-entry audits, communicate findings with upper management for applicable action, and maintain audit files and records.
- Maintains files, reports or metrics as required by company procedures and government regulations (soft copies); performs quarterly audits of all files and reports findings to upper management.
- Generates quarterly/yearly Import analysis reports (based on Import Excel data) and KPI reports for the Customs Broker, vendors, factories and Import Specialists.
- 6-10 years Import Regulation/Compliance Management experience in lieu of degree with progressive track record of increasing responsibility in supply chain, retail, finance and/or international fields
- International Business or Logistics BS Degree or equivalent experience in retail, international and supply chain areas
- Customs Brokerage license preferred but not required
- Knowledge in the movement of goods internationally and domestically as well as customs clearance and foreign country rules and regulations
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic supply chain and office environment in addition to demonstrated experience and success developing and implementing a strong, positive and solid team
- Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills
- Analytical problem solver
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Email, PowerPoint, Adobe, Access and Google Sheets)
