Anticipated Opening
Full-Time Day Custodian with Medical Benefits
Monday - Friday
Salary Range: $35,000 to $45,000
Preferred: N.J. Black Seal Boiler Certification
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of plant operation and maintenance, cleaning methods and procedures, heating and ventilation, proper handling of hazardous materials
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
- Possess and maintain the physical ability to perform minimum job functions of this position with reasonable accommodations
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds and Principal
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Open/closes the building each day, ensuring that all windows and doors are secured and all lights are turned off in their assigned areas at the end of the day
- Keeps the building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times
- Sweeps and/or vacuums and dusts assigned areas daily
- Empties trash and recycling in assigned areas daily
- Cleans chalkboards/dry erase boards daily
- Cleans corridors after each school day, and during the day when their condition requires it
- Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures and floors daily, and replenishes paper and soap supplies as needed
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned drinking fountains daily
- Cleans cafeteria dining areas as assigned
- Executes environmental accommodations related to student health and safety and implements specific cleaning directions and other required measures to further the protection of students and/or staff members with potentially life-threatening allergies and/or physical disabilities
- Obeys all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to the plant operation
- Moves furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by a supervisor
- Complies with all laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of chemicals, recyclables, trash, waste, and debris
- Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair, reporting repair needs promptly to a supervisor
- Cleans windows on both the inside and outside as scheduled
- Cleans light fixtures as scheduled
- Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation
- Shovels, plows, salts, and/or sweeps sidewalks, steps, driveways and parking areas as necessary
- May be required to wear a standard uniform selected by the district for security purposes
- Performs other duties which may be within the scope of their employment and certifications as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee
