Primary Functions
Responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure our facilities remain in excellent condition. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Must oversee facility repairs and general maintenance tasks, coordinate vehicle service, and handle other assigned special projects.
Hours27.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday: 9 am – 3 pm with a ½‑hour unpaid lunch).
Performance Responsibilities- Experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of general building maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems (changing belts, filters, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic understanding of automobile maintenance to assist in routine checks and dropping off to service appointments.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
- Install, repair, and replace flooring, doors, windows, and fixtures.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Paint and patch walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as needed.
- Maintain and repair appliances and mechanical equipment.
- Assist with landscaping and exterior maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring safety standards are met.
- Conduct quarterly vehicle checks and coordinate service appointments.
- Work toward the accomplishment of department/Agency goals.
- Attend all scheduled meetings assigned.
- Meet relevant continuing educational/training requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications are a plus.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Must have a clean and valid active NJ driver’s license.
- Availability to work additional hours during the week and weekends, as needed.
