Entry Writer - New Jersey
Salary: $50,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with experience)
On-site Full-time Substantial Global Freight Forwarder
About the Opportunity:
A well-established international freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Entry Writer to join its growing Customs Brokerage team in New Jersey. Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and file customs entries for import shipments in compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGA) regulations.
- Classify merchandise using HTS codes; verify valuation, country of origin, and duty calculations.
- Communicate with importers, carriers, and agencies to resolve holds, exams, or documentation issues.
- Maintain complete and compliant entry documentation and audit records.
- Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure on-time shipment release and delivery.
- 1-3+ years of customs entry writing or import operations experience within a freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment.
- Working knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, and PGA filings (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.).
- Experience using systems such as Cargo Wise, AS400, or similar.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and written/verbal communication.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or pursuing the license is a plus.
