Our client is seeking a senior attorney to be seconded on a full-time basis to one of the Firm’s key clients to serve as its General Counsel. This role offers a distinctive opportunity for an experienced real estate attorney to function as the principal legal advisor to a sophisticated real estate development and investment platform while remaining employed by a leading law firm.
The attorney will be embedded full-time at the client’s Bedminster, New Jersey office and will work closely with the company’s executive leadership and deal teams, providing strategic, transactional, and risk-management counsel across the organization’s real estate portfolio and operations.
The attorney will have a dual reporting relationship:
- Substantively
, to the client’s C-suite and senior management for day-to-day legal matters and business integration; and - Professionally
, to the firm s partner designated as responsible for the Firm’s relationship with the client.
- Serve as General Counsel to client, acting as the primary legal advisor to senior management and executive leadership.
- Provide day-to-day legal support for real estate development, acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing, and investment transactions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial real estate and related agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, loan documents, development and construction agreements, and commercial leases.
- Advise on corporate governance, entity structuring, and investment structures related to real estate holdings and operations.
- Manage and coordinate outside counsel, including transactional, litigation, and specialty counsel, as appropriate.
- Provide legal support in connection with disputes, claims, and litigation matters; hands-on litigation experience is a plus.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal and business risk in a pragmatic, solutions-oriented manner.
- Coordinate with firm attorneys as needed on specialized or overflow matters, ensuring seamless integration between in-house support and Firm resources.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in New Jersey and in good standing.
- Senior-level attorney with substantial experience in real estate development and investment transactions.
- Strong background in commercial real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and financing.
- Litigation experience or meaningful exposure to real estate-related disputes is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted business advisor with sound judgment and commercial sensibility.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work full-time, in-office in Bedminster, New Jersey, as an embedded member of the client’s executive and deal teams.
- Range of $300,000 to $350,000 and commensurate with seniority and experience
