Overview
Sharp Electronics Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Japan’s Sharp Corporation, is seeking an experienced, business-oriented attorney to join its U.S. Legal Department as Associate General Counsel. This role is based at Sharp’s U.S. headquarters and supports a wide range of commercial, operational, and strategic legal matters across the organization.
Sharp Electronics is a U.S. sales and marketing company of smart office technologies, home appliances, office solutions, professional displays, and component devices. Our U.S. operations span approximately 1,400 employees in about 53 offices nationwide across 18 states. The Legal Department plays a critical role in enabling the business to operate efficiently, responsibly, and in compliance with applicable laws, while remaining aligned with Sharp’s culture of service and collaboration.
The ideal candidate is practical, solutions-oriented, and comfortable operating as a trusted legal advisor to the business units, senior leadership, and all support teams throughout the organization. A roll‑up‑your‑sleeves attitude is required to align with our culture of service.
Responsibilities- Serve as a key legal partner to Sharp’s business units, providing day‑to‑day legal advice on contracts, commercial operations, marketing initiatives, and any matters impacting their business.
- Work closely with executives, department heads, and employees to understand business objectives and provide clear, actionable legal guidance, balancing legal risk with business realities.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements across B2B and B2C business units, including purchase and sale agreements, vendor and supplier contracts, service orders, leasing and credit agreements, program letters, and other commercial arrangements; conduct legal reviews of marketing and advertising programs, promotional materials, and other public‑facing communications.
- Oversee and coordinate matters handled by outside counsel, including transactional and litigation matters, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and alignment with company objectives.
- Juris Doctor degree.
- 5–7 years of relevant commercial legal experience.
- Ability to manage complex legal matters independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship‑management skills.
- Practical, business‑oriented approach with a strong service mindset.
- Flexibility, accountability, and willingness to support the organization wherever expertise is needed.
The compensation range for this role is $180,000–$200,000, excluding bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and other benefits. The starting salary will be determined by experience, education, training, certification, and location. Eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program‑specific awards, subject to applicable rules.
