About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Manager, Application Development to lead a team of Full Stack Engineers building the next generation of tools that power our Merchandising organization. In this role, you'll shape the technical strategy, guide architecture and engineering excellence, and partner closely with business leaders to deliver reliable, scalable, and user-centric applications.

You'll lead a team responsible for building and supporting custom systems-including our Receipt Management Tool and Vendor Brand Planning Tool-that are critical to merchandising operations and visibility at the ELT level. This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role for someone who thrives in a hybrid environment of engineering, product thinking, and business alignment.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership

• Drive end-to-end design, development, and delivery of custom applications using Angular, Type Script, Python, Azure, and Cosmos DB.
• Provide hands-on guidance on code quality, architecture, performance, and reliability.
• Implement and mature CI/CD pipelines, Dev Ops practices, testing automation, and release processes.
• Champion engineering best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.

People Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 6 Full Stack Developers; set clear goals, provide feedback, and build a high-performance culture.
• Manage team capacity, staffing, delegation, and performance management.
• Foster a collaborative environment where engineers feel empowered, supported, and accountable.

Business & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Translate business needs into technical strategies, ensuring clear alignment with Merchandising objectives.
• Partner with business stakeholders, Product, Infrastructure, and Architecture teams to deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
• Manage operational support in a 247 environment, driving fast response and root-cause resolution.
• Present progress, roadmaps, and technical recommendations to senior leadership, including Jennifer Vecchio and the ELT.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure uptime, reliability, and scalability of critical merchandising tools.
• Manage budgets, vendor resources, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement across development processes, tooling, and support workflows.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in software development or IT engineering
• 3+ years building modern web applications with Angular, Type Script, HTML, and Python
• Expertise with Microsoft Azure
  , Cosmos DB
  , and Git Hub
• Strong experience with CI/CD
  , Dev Ops, SDLC, and Agile methodologies
• Solid understanding of relational and dimensional database design
• Experience leading engineering teams and managing technical roadmaps
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building tools for Retail Merchandising, Planning, or Finance
• Experience leading custom development teams supporting mission-critical applications
• Ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across technical and business groups
• Strong background in both structured systems analysis and data-driven decision-making
