Storage Engineer

We are seeking a Storage Engineer to join our client's global media and entertainment team. This role is ideal for a storage infrastructure expert who thrives in large‑scale enterprise environments and is passionate about architecting, deploying, and managing high‑performance storage systems across hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments. The position will be primarily focused on Dell EMC Isilon and Net App storage platforms, supporting scalable, secure, and resilient storage solutions across global operations.

This project will require the person to work hybrid onsite in the Englewood Cliffs, NJ or New York City tri‑state area, and to be part of a rotational on‑call schedule. • Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise storage systems using Dell EMC Isilon and Net App ONTAP platforms.
• Support hybrid cloud storage architectures integrating on‑prem and cloud‑based storage solutions (AWS, Azure).
• Configure and maintain NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and object storage protocols across multi‑site environments.
• Implement and manage data replication, snapshot, tiering, and backup strategies across storage platforms.
• Monitor and optimize storage performance, capacity, and availability using tools such as Net App Active IQ, Isilon Insight
  
  IQ, and Cloud Insights.
• Automate storage provisioning and reporting using Power Shell, Python, or REST APIs.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure storage solutions align with business and performance requirements.
• Ensure storage environments meet security and compliance standards, including encryption at rest/in transit, access controls, and audit logging.
• Troubleshoot and resolve storage‑related issues across development, staging, and production environments.
• Document storage architecture, operational procedures, and best practices.

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise storage engineering, with a strong focus on Dell EMC Isilon and Net App.
• Deep expertise in:
  • Isilon OneFS, Smart Pools, Smart Connect, SyncIQ, Snapshot IQ
  • Net App ONTAP, Snap Mirror, Snap Vault, Flex Group, Fabric Pool
• Experience with hybrid cloud storage integration using AWS S3, Azure Blob, or Google Cloud Storage.
• Proficiency in storage automation and scripting (Power Shell, Python, REST APIs).
• Familiarity with cloud‑native storage services (e.g., AWS FSx for Net App ONTAP, Azure Net App Files).
• Strong understanding of data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Experience with storage monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik) and their integration with storage platforms.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, global environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Net App Certified Data Administrator, Dell EMC Proven Professional) are a plus.
• Required to be part of a rotational on‑call support schedule.

• Experience with software‑defined storage (SDS) and hyper‑converged infrastructure (e.g., VMware vSAN, Nutanix).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes persistent storage (e.g., Net App Trident, CSI drivers).
• Exposure to multi‑cloud storage strategies and data fabric architectures.
• Knowledge of data lifecycle management, archival, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Experience with storage networking (FC, iSCSI, Ethernet) and SAN/NAS architectures.

The base salary range for this contract position is $115,000–$135,000 per year, depending on experience.
