Yorktel is currently seeking a Software Sales Specialist who will be a part of Yorktel’s software sales group, (internally, ‘Yorksoft’) working normal business hours, 8:30am-5:30pm ET (some flexibility) from Yorktel HQ, DC Metro Area offices or a manager-approved home-office location. ISSI-1’s are expected to work government portals and email inbox(es) per established process/procedures to create 400-500+ quotes per year in timely response to RFQ’s then follow up periodically until recorded in CRM as won or lost.
The Software Sales Specialist will work from a Yorktel office 1-3 days per week, depending on distance from home to the closest Yorktel office (alternative arrangements considered, depending on circumstance.) This position at Yorktel is a great place to start and build a career in IT and/or Sales. Roles & Responsibilities
- Respond to government and commercial software license and subscription Requests For Quote (RFQ) (new and renewal).
- Manage software inbox(es) and bid portal(s) to provide timely bid/no-bid response, quotes and contract compliance.
- Work under direction of line management to maximize bid rate, win rate and profit.
- Develop trust and relationships with agency buyers and software publisher-supplier partners
- Promote awareness of Yorktel portfolio and as/when directed prospect for new business through social media and other modalities.
Like all employees, the Software Sales Specialist must complete an online timecard each week.
Skills & Abilities
- Good interpersonal skills
- Simple math skills
- Basic IT literacy in using Windows desktop and Office applications (MS Word, Outlook, Calendar, Excel) and mobile apps is a prerequisite.
- Reasonable familiarity with Collaboration (Team/Zoom/Webex for IM/video/audio chat) to complete work tasks and be able to conduct online searches (via Browser) to find and qualify information, upload/download files etc.is required.
- Capacity to ‘switch’ between multiple simultaneous tasks at different stages of completion is essential.
- Attention to accuracy and detail required.
- No specific technical product knowledge is required but a general interest in learning technology and how it can be used to improve productivity and transform business processes is expected.
- Sales Specialists should be self-motivated and exhibit integrity, initiative and the general desire to succeed through good work ethics.
- Onboarding and initial training provided on-the-job during the first 4-8 weeks of employment to transfer job-specific knowledge and details of process/workflow, building on the requisite skills above.
- At minimum, 1 year of inside sales experience in a similar position or internship is required.
- High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) plus 2-year community college, OR Bachelor’s degree, OR 2 years relevant sales experience
- Basic knowledge of modern IT concepts: data center, hardware, software client-server, licensing, SaaS/Cloud is required.
- Prior IT and/or Sales experience advantageous
