Position Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator/Manager supports the hospice organization by managing and overseeing all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. This position ensures that all HR practices align with hospice regulations, company policies, and state and federal employment laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment & Staffing
    • Coordinate and manage recruitment efforts for clinical and non-clinical hospice positions.
    • Post job openings, screen applicants, schedule interviews, and participate in candidate selection.
    • Conduct reference checks, background screenings, and ensure credential verification for all new hires.
    • Maintain staffing levels in collaboration with department managers to meet patient care needs.
  • Onboarding & Orientation
    • Conduct new hire orientation, ensuring employees understand hospice policies, procedures, and mission.
    • Prepare and maintain all personnel files and required documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for licensure, certifications, and health records.
  • Employee Relations
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries, employee concerns, and conflict resolution.
    • Promote a positive and respectful workplace culture consistent with hospice values of compassion and dignity.
    • Counsel managers and employees on HR policies, performance issues, and corrective actions.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws (EEO, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, etc.).
    • Maintain accurate employee records in accordance with hospice accreditation standards and company policy.
    • Support survey and audit readiness by keeping personnel files and documentation up to date.
  • Benefits & Payroll Support
    • Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and employee education.
    • Work closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee data.
    • Monitor leave requests, including PTO, FMLA, and workers’ compensation.
  • Performance & Training
    • Support performance appraisal processes and staff development initiatives.
    • Track mandatory hospice education and compliance training completion.
    • Partner with leadership to identify training needs and promote employee growth.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare or hospice setting.
  • Working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
