Summary
This position exists to assist patients, families and health care workers in meeting their religious/spiritual needs; to network with community organizations and resources in matters related to health and spiritual care; and to serve as a resource for Virtua on spiritual/religious matters.
Position Responsibilities- By way of responding to referrals from various sources, assess the level of spiritual distress, provide appropriate interventions to patients and their families/friends in meeting their religious and spiritual needs through visitation, sacramental and ritual ministry and referral services and documenting the outcome of these interventions in the patient record.
- Provide the same comprehensive pastoral care to the health care workers and volunteers as needed and requested.
- Oversee the chapel and pastoral care offices 7 days a week, 24 hours a day; process requests for spiritual interventions on a priority basis, dispatch professional chaplains, community clergy and/or specially trained clergy and lay volunteers as appropriate; maximum response time per request being 24 hours.
- Serve as a liaison and facilitator for area clergy.
- Plan and lead religious services.
- Recruit, train, and provide continuing education for Volunteer Chaplain Aides.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care rounds on CCU, 5 Stokes, 3 NE, and on 4 NE/NW and serve on various local and system-wide committees, such as critical care and bioethics, to act as advisor to the health care team on religious and/or spiritual issues impacting the plan of care.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in Parish, Institutional Ministry or Pastoral Care Administration.
Education and training in ministry sufficient to meet the criteria of the chaplain's own faith group for professional ministry; typically the incumbent will have earned the MDiv degree from an accredited seminary.
In addition, one unit of Clinical Pastoral education or comparable supervised clinical education is preferred.
Training/Certifications/Licensure70 hours per year of continuing education is expected.
Board Certified Clinical Chaplain certificate or equivalent is preferred.
Compensation and BenefitsHourly Rate: $27.01 - $41.99. The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
