Overview
As a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team, the Executive Director, Medical Affairs will serve as a subject matter expert and team leader for programs/indications in Allergy and Dermatology. This role will play an important role in shaping the overall Medical Affairs strategy with a focus on development and execution of critical scientific content, publications, advisory boards, KOL engagement efforts, congress presence, and medical symposia.
The Executive Director will partner with cross-functional partners, including Clinical Development, Commercial, HEOR, Value & Access, and other functions to shape the therapeutic area strategies with a focus on the U.S. as well as international efforts. The Executive Director will partner with Medical Affairs peers to action medical insights, advance data generation and dissemination efforts through modern, compliant, omni‑channel approaches, and leading a high‑performing team to deliver measurable impact on clinical understanding, access, and appropriate use.
Responsibilities- Therapeutic area medical affairs strategy and planning
- Develop Medical Affairs strategies and plans focused on scientific communications and engagements with medical community to build Celldex presence and capabilities in Allergy and Dermatology
- Lead a team of Medical Affairs specialists to develop a strategically and commercially aligned scientific engagement and communication strategy for key immunology assets in Allergy and Dermatology therapeutic areas.
- Provide disease‑area subject matter expertise on behalf of Medical Affairs to cross-functional partners, including Commercial (Marketing, Value and Access), R&D (clinical development, translational medicine, medical safety) to inform study designs, labels, and postmarketing commitments.
- Medical communications, content & publications
- Own the scientific narrative/lexicon and publication strategy (abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts); ensure timely, rigorous, compliant execution with cross‑functional partners and vendors.
- Oversee creation and lifecycle management of medical content and learning assets (slide libraries, FAQs, scientific platforms, MSL and internal training) to ensure one scientific voice across channels.
- Serve as a key driver of strategy and execution of publications from both global and U.S. perspectives.
- External expert strategy: KOLs, advisory boards & symposia
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with KOLs, rising opinion leaders, and professional societies across Allergy and Dermatology; maintain dynamic stakeholder maps.
- Design and run compliant advisory boards (agendas, faculty identification, briefing books, insight capture) that shape evidence and engagement priorities.
- Lead satellite symposia and educational programming at priority congresses; align with data/readiness timelines and ensure high scientific quality.
- Omnichannel data dissemination & congress excellence
- Architect an omni‑channel data dissemination plan (congress, publications, field medical, digital platforms) to meet HCP, payer, and patient needs.
- Identify, prioritize, and oversee innovative and compliant dissemination approaches with continuous optimization based on insights/analytics.
- Set Medical KPIs (reach, engagement quality, time‑to‑knowledge, content utility) and adapt plans as necessary to maximize impact.
- Cross‑functional leadership & governance
- Ensure Medical strategy is compliantly aligned across Medical Affairs functions, Market Access, and Commercial.
- Represent Medical Affairs with Clinical R&D, Translational Medicine, and other Research functions to optimize Medical Affairs strategies and deliverables to educate the medical community, meet customer needs, and provide internal feedback based on external interactions.
- Support annual strategic planning for Medical Affairs; manage budget and vendor ecosystem; drive operations excellence (cadences, SOPs, dashboards) with Medical Affairs peers.
