Overview
This position provides the OB patient with a dedicated VMG member to guide them through their obstetrical care up to the post-partum visit. The OB Counselor coordinates services and works closely with physicians to manage the patient’s pregnancy. This is a highly visible position requiring knowledge of obstetrical tests, interpretation of results, recording test results, prioritization, and professional communication with patients, families, and physicians.
Performs a variety of clinical, technical, and clerical functions in relation to patient care and general office duties under the guidance of the Practice Manager and/or Staff Physician.
- Provide OB patients with dedicated guidance through obstetrical care up to the post-partum visit.
- Coordinate services and collaborate with physicians to manage the patient’s pregnancy.
- Perform clinical, technical, and clerical tasks related to patient care and office duties.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with patients, families, and staff.
- Prioritize tasks, interpret obstetrical test results, and record results accurately.
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
ExperiencePrevious Medical Assistant experience in a clinic, physician’s office, or outpatient setting preferred, or eligibility for certification required.
Skills- Certified Medical Assistant:
Current and valid certification as a CMA or RMA is required. BCLS certification preferred. - Understanding of the operations of a medical practice.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to set priorities and respond quickly to urgent situations.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to foster teamwork and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and management.
- Courteous, caring, respectful, and compassionate demeanor; ability to listen and respond non-judgmentally.
