Position Overview
  • Delivers quality care to patients through teamwork and the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assures patient safety by executing appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Provides pain management support and assists patients/families in identifying individualized comfort measures.
  • Coordinates with internal resources to determine outcomes of interventions completed by other departments.
  • Mobilizes resources in complex cases to maximize patient control and participation in recovery.
  • Provides information and interpretation of the patient’s condition and offers coping mechanisms to patients and families.
  • Assesses information needs and utilizes a patient‑centered approach to facilitate understanding.
  • Documents a discharge plan that maximizes the patient’s ability to continue meaningful life activities.
  • Integrates assessment data with intuition for age‑specific healthcare needs and anticipates patient needs.
  • Ensures handoff communication and includes reports on likely situations and pending problems.
  • Identifies proactive issues related to patient education for medication management and provides discharge instructions.
  • Uses judgment to modify care regimens and facilitates appropriate responses from the healthcare team.
  • Explores care regimen options with the case manager and other providers to promote resolution.
  • Demonstrates unit‑wide competence and is self‑motivated to adjust staffing patterns; attends educational sessions to improve assessment skills.
  • Plans and provides individualized comfort measures using evidence‑based practice.
  • Participates in unit‑based, hospital‑based committees, and performance‑improvement activities.
  • Participates actively in Joint Commission readiness and unit‐level efforts to achieve successful Patient Satisfaction scores.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Associate’s Degree or graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience: None required; previous nursing experience preferred.
  • Credentials: AHA BLS – Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi‑state.
  • Must obtain TNCC (or within 1 year of hire) and 8 hours of trauma‑related Continuing Nursing Education annually if assigned to RMC ICU/CCU, RMC Surgical Trauma Unit, RMC PACU, Emergency Department (all campuses).
  • Must obtain NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or by end of orientation) and 8 hours of stroke‑related Continuing Nursing Education annually if assigned to Critical Care, Intermediate Care Unit, Emergency Department, Neuro Units, Cardiology Inpatient at Hopewell, Peds ED, PACU, Interventional Radiology, CNI, Observation.
  • CPR Requirements – ACLS required (or within 6 months of hire) if assigned to specific units; NRP and PALS requirements similarly specified.
  • Possesses strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and adaptability to change.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of nursing practices, hospital procedures, and current trends.
  • Special training in nursing skills and hospital standards.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Frequent demands: pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching (forward and overhead), squatting/kneeling/crawling, wrist deviations, pinching, keyboard use, repetitive motion, taste or smell.
  • Occasional demands: sitting, climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Continuous demands: standing, walking, carrying objects, talking or hearing.
  • Lifting: 25 lbs. from floor to waist; 25 lbs. waist level and above.
