The Monitor Technician is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. They monitor cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors, facilitate communication needs of the department, transcribe physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system, verify that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and performed, prepare and comply with ICU records, order supplies for the unit, and complete each patient’s chart for necessary forms needed daily.
They assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties if it does not distract from their primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring. For ICU only: may provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients under RN supervision within the scope of Certified Nursing Assistant if licensed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent or related experience required for all new hires.
- Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Six months of previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred.
Saint Clare's Health offers competitive compensation. The role’s estimated starting compensation is $20.70 per unit. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection based on skillset, experience, education, credentials and licensure.
