The X-Ray Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. This position operates diagnostic equipment and peripheral equipment in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The X-Ray Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.
This role actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable and supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating teamwork and cooperation.
- Perform diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures to ensure quality patient care.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and peripheral equipment safely and efficiently to obtain optimal test results.
- Manage the patient during diagnostic procedures to meet patient care standards.
- Maintain supplies and report equipment problems to the appropriate staff member.
- Support student clinical education activities where applicable.
- Contribute to performance improvement efforts and demonstrate teamwork and cooperation.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required
License/Certification
- Licensed by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) required
- Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required
Experience
- 1-year diagnostic testing preferred
- Candidates must possess ability to multitask with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and then skill will be required within 30–60 days from date of hire
- NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biannually
- ARRT expires on incumbent s date of birth and must be renewed annually
Potential for exposure to hazards and risks of a hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Standing for most of the time; prolonged sitting at a CRT monitor; frequent pushing, pulling and lifting of patients with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.
ReportingRelationship
This position reports to the Radiology Manager and takes direction from the X-Ray Supervisor.
