How You'll Contribute:
We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Design Engineer to help elevate our Workplace Technology engineering practice across Canada. This role is ideal for a senior technical expert who is experienced with large enterprise environments, excels in client facing engagements, and consistently delivers high quality engineering solutions.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise clients, a standards champion within the engineering organization, and a key partner to Sales, Operations, and PMO teams. You will influence engineering excellence across the project lifecycle and guide dotted line junior engineers through complex design challenges.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will shape the technical foundation of enterprise workplace technology solutions across Canada. You'll influence engineering quality, elevate design standards, and serve as a trusted advisor to major clients-without the administrative overhead of managing direct reports.
NOTE - while a virtual position, this role supports our Canadian customers and will require periodic travel to customer and project sites countrywide.
What You'll Do:
Enterprise Level Design & Technical Leadership
- Lead the design and technical direction of large scale Workplace Technology and AV integration projects across pre-sale phases: requirements, conceptual design, detailed design, submittals, and support the post-sales phases of fabrication, testing, commissioning.
- Develop high quality engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and technical solutions that meet enterprise standards and client expectations.
- Act as a senior technical resource during presales engagements, solution development, and client presentations.
Client Facing Expertise & Relationship Building
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact for enterprise clients, translating complex requirements into clear, actionable engineering solutions.
- Communicate design intent, risks, and recommendations with clarity and confidence to executive level stakeholders.
- Support client workshops, design reviews, and technical discovery sessions to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
Cross Functional Collaboration & Influence
- Provide dotted line mentorship and technical guidance to junior and midlevel engineers through design reviews, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Partner closely with PMO, Sales, Operations, and field teams to ensure engineering deliverables align with project goals, timelines, and quality expectations.
- Promote a collaborative, cross functional "one company" mindset that strengthens communication and reduces friction between teams.
Standards, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Uphold and enhance engineering standards, processes, and documentation frameworks.
- Support project audits and quality reviews to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
- Drive innovation in engineering practices, tools, and technologies to improve efficiency and design quality.
Risk, Quality & Operational Support
- Identify design risks, technical gaps, and process issues early, escalating appropriately to leadership.
- Support value engineering, scope clarification, and change order strategies to maintain project profitability.
- Contribute to resource planning discussions by advising on technical skill requirements and workload considerations.
Strategic Alignment & Business Impact
- Ensure engineering deliverables reflect the company's mission, vision, and enterprise level strategy.
