Location: Bedminster
Structural Design Engineer Responsibilities
- Design steel cold box structures, pipe racks, and all other structural elements of process plants.
- Produce plan, section, and elevation drawings of structures with sufficient detail needed for vendor bid packages and for vendors to produce fabrication drawings.
- Perform lateral and gravity analysis on structures to validate designs.
- Develop shipping and lifting requirements for equipment from 5 to 500 metric tons.
- Make technical recommendations and review vendor drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Follow established AISC, ASCE, IBC, and ACI standards.
- Participate in departmental training programs/seminars and online training.
- Ensure projects comply with schedule and budgetary requirements.
- Work efficiently as part of a team with leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resolve technical project issues, reviewing and making quality recommendations.
- The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with solid planning and organizational skills.
- Degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (CADWorx a plus) and AutoCAD.
- Experience with cryogenic piping, cold boxes, and the Industrial Gases Industry is a plus.
- Experience with Robot, Tekla, and/or other industry-standard structural design software.
- Experience with Hilti design software and RAM Connection software.
- Understanding of pipe stress and pipe supports.
- Basic computer literacy - Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to function in a team environment across multiple disciplines.
- PE license is a plus.
