Due to continued 2026 growth, Boswell’s Construction Inspection Services Department is seeking two additional Resident Engineers/ Senior Construction Inspectors to oversee several projects and a staff of Engineers and Inspectors. One Resident Engineer with PE license will work in Hudson County on moveable bridge projects while the other Resident Engineer/ Senior Inspector with PE will support NJ Turnpike Authority projects at various NJ sites.
Responsibilities include:- Manage project budgets to track monthly expenditures on project-by-project basis
- Conduct or direct the verification of construction quantities for contractor applications for payment
- Prepare staffing and cost estimates for new projects
- Conduct constructability reviews which may include roadway projects, sanitary and storm drainage projects, pump stations, generators, retaining walls, bridge replacements (including movable bridges), culverts
- Oversee or conduct construction tasks including bid reviews, contract award evaluations, verification of bond and insurance submittals, issuance of Notice to Proceed letters, construction and pre-construction meetings
- Ensure project QA/QC compliance efforts in accordance with strict adherence to QA/ QC and Safety practices & standards
- Provide leadership and direction by mentoring and motivating staff including training, performance feedback, technical guidance, client relations, financial management and brainstorming
- Chair preconstruction meetings and prepare meeting minutes for projects
- Gather GIS assets and prepare projects as-builts for close-out
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with minimum of 10+ years of experience demonstrating increased responsibility from Construction Inspector level responsibilities upward
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing is highly preferred, but not required. If experienced Candidate has an active NICET III or IV license, this is welcome and valued
- Proven experience delivering large construction projects as well as smaller construction projects
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact in a positive manner with clients, public officials and the general public
- Must be well versed in the understanding and implementation of the NJDOT and NJTA specifications, standards and details
- Valid Certifications including NICET IV or PE (preferred but not required), ACI Field Concrete Testing, NJ Society of Asphalt Technician Certification (NJSAT), Rutgers TCP, ACI CCTC certifications

The hourly-exempt range below is applicable for the job and location associated with this position. Compensation will vary based on specific relevant experience, education, certifications, skill levels, geographic location and other compensable factors.
Hourly Range: $ 60.00 - $80.00
