Senior Project Manager/ Lead - Highway Design Engineer

Boswell is seeking a Senior Project Manager/Lead - Highway Design Engineer to support the Highway Department with experience in securing and managing NJDOT and similar agencies. The role is based in our South Hackensack, NJ office, with potential for hybrid work after acclimation. The candidate will work closely with existing clients, manage projects and design processes, and support staff. This position may require reporting five days a week initially.

• Lead and manage all phases of highway design projects from concept development through final design under the direction of the Head of Department
• Prepare proposals and qualification statements for contracts/clients with a focus on NJDOT and similar transportation agencies
• Manage existing client relationships and engage with potential new clients
• Identify new clients and business development opportunities
• Collaborate with clients on upcoming projects and prepare design plans
• Perform detailed highway analysis, design and assessments
• Supervise and mentor junior engineering staff; ensure satisfactory performance on projects
• Manage multiple projects with respect to scope, schedule, and budget
• Coordinate project work internally with other Departments and with clients on funded projects
• Develop plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements and internal standards
• Stay current with latest engineering techniques and practices
• Represent Boswell at project meetings, public hearings, and business development meetings (some outside normal hours)
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Jersey is required
• 15+ years of engineering experience with a minimum of 8 years in project management
• Significant experience with NJDOT and similar transportation agencies
• Strong interpersonal, writing, editing, and document organization skills
• Current US work eligibility
• Knowledge of design and construction technology and software; experience with Open Roads/Micro Station preferred
