Highway Project Manager

A leading civil engineering and infrastructure firm in Central New Jersey is seeking an experienced Highway Project Manager to oversee the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and roadway improvement projects. This role is ideal for a technically strong, client-focused professional who can manage multidisciplinary teams and drive successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage highway/roadway design projects from concept through final design and construction support.
• Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, estimates (PS&E), design reports, and permitting documentation.
• Coordinate with NJDOT, NJTA, county/municipal agencies, and utility stakeholders.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Provide technical guidance on highway geometrics, traffic control, drainage, and pavement design.
• Manage internal staff and subconsultants; conduct progress meetings and maintain project documentation.
• Serve as primary client contact and support business development activities including proposals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; PE license in NJ required or ability to obtain in near term.
• 8–15+ years of progressive experience in highway/transportation design and project management.
• Proficiency with Micro Station/Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of NJDOT/NJTA standards and project delivery processes.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client-relationship skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Highway widening, resurfacing, intersection improvements, and safety/operational projects.
• Experience with traffic staging/maintenance of traffic plans.
