The Senior Design Engineer (Utilities) will lead due diligence investigations and design/engineering analyses for water and wastewater utilities on retail, commercial, industrial, and residential site projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Review municipal zoning, land development ordinances, and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations.
- Prepare Site Investigation and Due Diligence Reports, including ordinance review, utility service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits.
- Prepare Conceptual Utility Plans and detailed Design Plans.
- Provide construction cost estimates.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project teams to prepare comprehensive site plan applications.
- Perform calculations related to pumping systems and hydraulics for water and wastewater facilities.
- Prepare technical reports (water and sanitary sewer reports).
- Prepare written correspondence to outside agencies, clients, contractors, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 4+ years’ experience in Civil Utilities Engineering.
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate personal/company vehicle.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (and AutoCAD Civil 3D) for site plan drawings.
- Knowledge of planning, zoning, hydraulic and stormwater design programs.
- Design and drafting capabilities—grading, drainage, utility design (water mains, gravity sewer conveyances, pump stations, force mains).
- Experience with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
- Proficiency in mapping websites for due diligence and investigation.
- Proficiency with design tools:
Hydro software such as Hydraflow, Storm
CAD, and Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA). - Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project), Bluebeam Revu, Adobe.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Independent and critical thinking, superior organization and delegation skills.
- Team‑orientation and client management experience.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $85,000 - $110,000.
