OverviewThe Mechanical Design Engineer will design components, subassemblies and assemblies for Kearfott GND products to meet internal and customer technical requirements. The role collaborates with systems, electrical, test, and software engineers and works with project and program managers, QA, production, and supply chain teams.
Responsibilities- Design 3D and 2D mechanical components and electromechanical assemblies using Solid Works CAD
- Design electronic enclosures and electronics packaging
- Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
- Generate BOMs and select materials and manufacturing processes per technical specifications
- Perform stress analysis using FEA techniques (Ansys, Solid Works Simulation)
- Manage configuration in a Solid Works PDM environment
- Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure mechanical requirements are fully understood and implemented
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 7+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in aerospace or defense
- Exposure to manufacturing processes and 3D printing technology
- Proficiency in Solid Works CAD, FEA, and Microsoft Office
- Experience with configuration management of engineering documentation
- Knowledge of GD&T and PDM design environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; team player
- Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $138,000 – $162,000 annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation; final pay may vary based on experience and qualifications.
