Cape May County Park and Zoo Summer Zoo Camp Counselor

Under the supervision of the Education Staff, we look for individuals to work as Summer Zoo Camp Counselors. Responsibilities include delivering engaging lessons and presentations, supervising campers, leading games, arts and crafts, handling ambassador animals, engaging the public, and leading campers through the zoo while following zoo protocol.

We need 7 summer team members to bring camp’s energy to the next level.

• Must be 18 or older.
• Excellent public speaking and communication.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Experience working with animals is preferred.
• Ability to stand or remain standing for a 6-hour shift.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Preferably working toward or have a bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Conservation Education, Wildlife Conservation, Wildlife Biology, Zoo Science, or related field.
• Excellent creative thinking and originality.
• Excellent teamwork skills.

All applicants must pass a drug and background check with the county prior to employment.

This position pays $17 per hour, 32‑34 hours per week Monday–Thursday (8:00‑8:30 am – 4:30 pm). Friday, Saturday, Sunday OFF. Seasonal/Summer only, June 1 – August 20.
