Middle School Per-Diem Substitute Teacher

Overview

The Pingry School is seeking dedicated and flexible Middle School Substitute Teachers to join our substitute team for the  school year. The ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children in Grade 6 through Grade 8 and will be available on an as-needed basis to cover teacher absences. The role requires the ability to adapt quickly, maintain classroom management, and deliver lesson plans effectively in a warm, supportive environment.

Candidates must demonstrate flexibility in teaching across a range of subject areas common to middle school curricula. This role is on the Basking Ridge, New Jersey campus, and the per-diem compensation is $140 per day. • Substitute teachers are called in on an as-needed basis and must be flexible with their availability. The schedule may vary depending on the specific needs of the school.
• Must be able to work the full school day from 7:45am to 3:45pm.
• Implement the daily lesson plans provided by the teacher for the assigned grade level.
• Create and maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
• Hold students to high academic and behavior standards consistent with The Pingry School Mission and Honor Code.
• Support students during class time, transitions, meals, recess time, and other learning opportunities that may be assigned to the substitute educator.
• Collaborate with other teachers to ensure a safe environment for all students.

• A Bachelor's degree is required; candidates currently pursuing an educational degree (especially those in their senior year) will be considered. A Master's degree and previous classroom teaching experience are preferred.
• Enthusiasm for working with students.
• Experience working with middle school aged students.
• Ability to follow instructions and execute lesson plans with little preparation time.
• Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty.
• Comfort with incorporating technology into your workflow, including Google Classroom and Veracross.
• Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the department and school community, including working hours based upon the school's rotating schedule.
• Commitment to the mission, vision, and pillars of the Pingry School, including a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to work cross-functionally with diverse constituency groups.
