ROBERT FRANCIS "BOB" WALSH MORGAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Optimist Club of Howell will award one (1) scholarship of $1,000 to a Howell Township or Farmingdale resident. Former Mayor Robert Francis Walsh was very active in the community and in working with and for autism. In keeping with Bob’s patriotism, charitable works, and love of life, the applicant should have a commitment to pursue a degree in Political Science, Autism Research, or Finance/Banking, which was Bob’s business.
SelectionCriteria
- Be a Howell Township or Farmingdale resident
- Be a graduating senior in good standing with a "B" average or higher
- Have applied to or been accepted to a college program leading to a career in any of the above-mentioned professions
- Have been involved in some form of community service
- Provide a descriptive statement outlining the chosen field of study, proposed school, and reasons for vocational/professional choice (one page, written by the student)
- Two letters of recommendation, one which addresses the student’s contributions to the community
Winners will be chosen by the Optimist Club of Howell Scholarship Committee from applications submitted. The scholarship amount will be paid directly to the school or vocational program the student will be attending, to be applied toward tuition costs. All decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final.
