French Teacher

Overview

Mount Saint Mary Academy seeks a high school French teacher to join our World Language Department for the  academic year. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm and a strong foundation in language instruction to help grow our French program. Part-time and full-time applicants are encouraged to apply.

• Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in French, Education, or a related linguistic field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in French. Candidates with proficiency in an additional language, such as Italian, Latin, or Spanish, will be given preference.
• 2+ years of high school teaching experience (preferred).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and students.
• Experience with Comprehensible Input (CI) and other communicative teaching strategies preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

• Build a classroom culture in which students engage with the language in authentic ways and integrate interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communication.
• Integrate technology in the classroom in engaging and meaningful ways.
• Differentiate instruction and assessment for students, as appropriate.
• Stay apprised of current language teaching pedagogies and research.
• Willingness to collaborate in the design and evaluation of curriculum.
• Develop and support a positive learning environment with students, and will effectively communicate with students and families about student progress.
• Contribute to the school community through participation in extracurricular activities and school-wide initiatives when possible.

• $60,000 - $70,000 (full-time).
• Final compensation will be based on experience and education.
• Since both part-time and full-time applicants are encouraged to apply, the full-time salary range above will be adjusted for a part-time employee.
