Position Summary
The Pingry School prides itself on a rich history of academic and athletic success. Developing student-athletes with passion and character is a priority. The school offers over 83 different teams in the Middle and Upper Schools, and over 90% of Upper School students participate in at least one interscholastic sport. This is a part-time stipended coaching position.
Responsibilities- Lead and inspire student-athletes to achieve personal and team goals.
- Apply knowledge of track and field throws (e.g., shot put, discus, javelin) to coaching; provide effective instruction, feedback, and encouragement.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and school administrators to ensure program success.
- Uphold the Pingry School’s mission, policies, and sportsmanship, and model ethical behavior.
- Demonstrated experience in track and field (throws); coaching at the collegiate or high school level is preferred, with club coaching experience as an option.
- Experience in fostering athletic, emotional, and psychological development within an educational environment.
- Strong connections to NJ Youth Track & Field, high school, and club networks.
- Ability to commit to the position’s time requirements, including travel to practices and games; some schedules may occur on weekends. Practices for Upper School Athletics begin at 3:30 pm with varying end times.
- Commitment to honor, character, and engaging with diverse groups to enhance an inclusive school community.
- Valid driver’s license.
The salary range is $4,000–$4,500. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and internal data at Pingry.
