Job DescriptionRaritan Valley Community College's Health Science Education department is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor in Nursing Lab Skills Development. The instructor will foster student learning, stimulate discussions, encourage active learning strategies, maintain course-related records, and promptly assess student coursework and progress in the clinical and didactic areas. Lab skills include Foundations of Nursing and Nursing of Adults 1 learning lab evaluations and practicum assessments at assigned times.
Responsibilities- Prepare appropriate plans, materials, and learning activities for students to achieve the learning outcomes of each lecture experience.
- Assist in development of learning lab skills, followed by assessment and final practicum check off.
- Laboratory supervision of the assigned group(s) of students in the lab setting, including orientation, selecting appropriate learning experiences, observing and guiding performance, reviewing procedures and principles, and providing on-the-spot instruction as appropriate.
- Maintain student records in accordance with regular college procedures and assessment practices.
- Use standardized instructor evaluation forms to obtain feedback regarding performance.
- Maintain effective, on-going communication with the Course Coordinator and/or Chairperson of HSE Department concerning student progress and concerns.
- Assist the Course Coordinator during the semester with laboratory preparation and, if indicated, with procedure demonstrations.
- Contribute ideas and actively participate as a team member with colleagues in departmental activities.
- Consult with the Academic Chair, Course Coordinator, or other college personnel on questions involving course, curricula, instructional strategies, and College procedures and policies.
- Continuously improve teaching effectiveness through professional growth; adjunct faculty are encouraged to attend professional development activities sponsored by the College when possible.
- Notify the Course Coordinator and HSE Office promptly in the event of the instructor's absence.
- MSN from a four-year college or university.
- Registered Professional Nurse License from the State of New Jersey.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card with Professional Rescuer or AHA Healthcare Provider certification (BLS-C).
- Recent clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting.
