Job Description

Raritan Valley Community College is seeking part-time instructors to teach Film Studies courses, particularly Film Technique and a Survey of American Film. These courses help students understand how American films reflect and shape culture, while also introducing them to movies as a powerful visual art form. Students explore various film genres, such as romantic comedies, Westerns, and film noir, and learn to analyze key elements of film language, including cinematography, editing, lighting, sound, and mise en scène.

Responsibilities
  • Have a strong background in film theory and history, especially American cinema
  • Are comfortable teaching film analysis, genre studies, and visual storytelling
  • Can guide students in thinking critically and writing clearly about what they watch
Qualifications

A master’s degree in Film, Media, Communication, or a related field is required. Prior teaching experience is needed; college-level teaching is preferred. We welcome applications from filmmakers who bring both subject expertise and a commitment to supporting student learning.

Master's Degree in Communication, Film, or Media Studies. Prior teaching experience required; college level preferred. Positions are located on the Main RVCC Campus unless otherwise noted.
