Job DescriptionRaritan Valley Community College's Aseptic Biomanufacturing Department is seeking an Adjunct Part-Time, Non-Credit Biology Instructor. The instructor will lead both lecture and lab components, ensuring alignment with regulatory cleanroom standards.
MissionThe mission of the Aseptic Biomanufacturing and Biotechnology Workforce Department is to provide high-quality education in biological and biotechnological sciences. We are committed to teaching excellence, with a focus on helping students:
- Acquire foundational biotechnology knowledge to prepare for transfer to a four-year institution or pursue a career in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- Understand essential biological and aseptic biomanufacturing concepts used in biotech and pharmaceutical settings.
- Develop critical thinking skills to analyze biological data and scientific information using evidence-based reasoning.
- Strengthen scientific communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
- Teaches classroom lecture-style instruction, including using technology such as automated presentations, computer-generated slides, videos, and the college online interface.
- Assessment of student progress and success in the classroom and with individual course assignments.
- Hands-on lab instruction and supervision.
- Ability to have final course grades calculated and submitted by the deadline.
- Teaching opportunities may include day, evenings, weekend classes.
- Year-round teaching opportunities available based on need.
- Salary/pay is based on instructional hours taught in the semester.
- Understanding and commitment to serving a diverse student population across academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds.
A Master s degree in Biology or related field.
Three years of college-level teaching experience in Biology and Laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications- A PhD degree in Biology or Biotechnology or related field.
- Community college or high school teaching experience in biology labs.
- Experience in a cleanroom setting (academic or industry).
- Basic understanding of GMP, aseptic technique, and lab safety.
- Knowledge of biomanufacturing equipment and techniques.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
