Job Summary
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Part‑Time Learning Specialist in the Athletics Department. The candidate will coordinate, organize, and implement a study plan for a cohort of student‑athletes, conducting consistent weekly meetings and communications with academic support staff and coaching staff. The candidate must uphold the university’s academic honesty policies and NCAA ethical standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement academic support plans for an at‑risk cohort of 5‑10 student‑athletes.
  • Conduct weekly (or daily) check‑ins with the cohort.
  • Communicate during evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with academic support staff, coaches, and administrators to ensure academic progression.
  • Identify learning needs and develop individualized support programs and services.
  • Encourage cohort utilization of all academic support services.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
  • Perform other department‑wide student‑athlete support services as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year of experience
  • Experience in athletics and/or academic education support
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Understanding of the university’s commitment to academics and athletic excellence
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in athletics academic education support
  • Counseling, Math, and/or English teaching experience
