Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Transitions

Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Transitions in the Division of Student Life. The position is in‑person, on‑campus, and requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement programming for the Office of Student Engagement, including evenings and weekends.
  • Advise the Student Activities Board (SAB) and coordinate new club/organization recognition with SGA.
  • Develop and deliver trainings for club/organization leadership and advisors, and establish processes for leadership transitions.
  • Assist with budget management, travel coordination, and contract negotiations for student programming.
  • Supervise student event assistants and serve as a resource for students, clubs, and organizations.
  • Be available for irregular hours, attending and advising events, including weekends and evenings as a university representative.
  • Support division and campus‑wide programming efforts such as New Student Orientation, Residential programming, Welcome Week, Homecoming, Spring fest, Open House, and Commencement.
  • Prepare documents including annual reports and assessment projects.
  • Plan and coordinate all components of transition programs for First‑Year Students and their families, including Hawk Welcome & Advising Days, New Student Orientation, Family Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, and Family Weekend.
  • Select, train, and supervise Orientation student staff and coordinate initiatives such as the Commuter Student Mentor program.
  • Maintain and produce published materials for transition programs and the Student Engagement App pages.
  • Represent the Division of Student Life at recruitment events and evaluate yearly transition programs.
  • Participate in the professional staff on‑call duty rotation, providing crisis response, resident support, and coordination of emergencies in university housing.
  • Maintain residence in the university‑assigned apartment as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in facilitation and training.
  • Ability to reside in university‑sponsored housing on campus.
  • Availability for non‑routine hours, including evenings and weekends; willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license with no serious violations and minimal moving violations (see policy).
  • Reliable transportation to local university sites.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel 2016.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience in student life, residential life, or a related field at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship building and collaboration.
  • Fluency in facilitation and training.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday and, as needed, for events at irregular hours including evenings and weekends.

Salary

Estimated at $50,000 - $53,000 per year.
