DescriptionThe Lawrenceville School seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and collegial individual who will work in a collaborative and diverse academic setting with both high‑school students and adults. The department encourages students to develop an appreciation of the nature of scientific knowledge and the practice of scientific inquiry, to be curious about the natural world, and to become scientifically‑informed citizens.
Essential Responsibilities- Teach four sections per term; prepare two to three lessons per trimester.
- Commit to two seasons of coaching or equivalent co‑curricular activity, including at least one season of interscholastic coaching.
- Advise five to eight students.
- Provide evening “House duty” supervision in a student residence from 6‑11:30 pm, one evening per week.
- If residing in school‑provided housing, live in one of the residential houses for a total of eight years during your career (not necessarily starting your first year).
- Chaperone a weekend activity (e.g., dance, coffee house) twice per term.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated success teaching introductory and advanced Physics principles.
- Experience teaching Physics with applied, relevant contexts.
- Ability to teach the nature of scientific knowledge and the practice of inquiry.
- Strong classroom planning and facilitation of student‑centered learning.
- Collaborative curriculum development with clear communication of expectations.
- Master’s degree or higher in Physics (or related field); M.Ed with a Physics background is acceptable. Background in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Engineering is a plus.
- Passion for fostering student interest in science and inquiry.
- Minimum of two years of high‑school teaching experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently as required.
- Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Must remain on feet for extended periods; navigate stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Regular use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers).
- Require continuous wrist movement on a keyboard; long standing periods; flexibility to talk, hear, walk, and use hands.
- Capable of visual display terminal use with continuous keyboard activity.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to see with normal parameters.
- Operate in a professional work environment and may work outside normal hours as needed.

Salary$50,000.00 – $76,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
