Adjunct, Nursing Lab – Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ

Monmouth University’s Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing is seeking Adjunct faculty for the Nursing Lab. The Lab promotes student learning of specific clinical tasks through visual and kinesthetic modalities. Instructors with an MSN teach the task, its rationale, and safety points; instructors with a BSN reinforce prior learning.

The Adjunct will assist with simulations, tutoring, remediation, medication calculation, clinical referrals, and Nursing Care Plan assistance. Students are divided into small groups to practice procedures, receive feedback, and build confidence in hands‑on nursing skills. Assessment involves demonstration at return demonstrations with skills checklists and pass/fail grading.

• Personal Hygiene and patient mobility
• Medication Administration – Parental and Non-Parental Medications
• IV access and medication administration
• Catheter skills (Foley insertion/removal, straight catheter insertion, external catheter care)
• Airway management including tracheostomy care and suctioning
• Enteral feedings and medication administration
• Diabetes management and insulin administration
• Infection control (handwashing, PPE)
• Surgical asepsis, wound care, drain maintenance
• Vital signs
• Assessment skills (adult and pediatric)
• Elimination skills (enemas, ostomies)
• Nasogastric tube insertion and removal
• Blood administration
• Closed‑chest drainage
• Specimen collection

• Comply with institutional, school, departmental, and course policies.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with nursing faculty, staff, and students.
• Provide direct and indirect instruction and supervision to undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students.
• Collaborate with the Lab Director and lead course faculty to meet learning outcomes.
• Evaluate student clinical performance and provide feedback to students and course faculty.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.
• Current New Jersey State nursing license.
• Coaching and team‑building skills to foster supportive relationships.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Effective interpersonal skills to promote student and program success.
• Experience with technology and computer software; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Flexibility for scheduled hours, including some weekends and evenings.
• Physical ability to lift, move, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.

• Clinical teaching experience.
• Higher education/college‑level nursing teaching experience.
