Position Overview

The Pingry School seeks a full-time, 12-month dynamic Experiential Programs Coordinator to support the Experiential Education team. Responsibilities include collaborating with K-12 faculty to foster a learn-by-doing approach and immersive education across the curriculum and at the Pottersville Campus. The role involves working with the Dean of Residential Life on Pottersville programs, advising global exchanges and lifelong learning programs, partnering with Auxiliary for strategic partnerships, rentals, and summer programs, and supporting school-wide professional development related to experiential education.

On-campus residency at the Pottersville Campus is required.

Compensation and schedule are flexible, with a requirement for nights, weekends, and extended overnight trips. The role includes physically demanding outdoor work and does not include teaching within Pingry’s core curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Outdoor Adventure & Environmental

    Education:

    Design and implement team-building curricula using outdoor activities (ropes course challenges, wilderness expeditions, and collaborative problem-solving) to foster leadership, communication, and community among K-12 groups and faculty. Support the growth of outdoor learning and ropes curriculum at Pottersville Campus.
  • Serve as a high- and low-ropes course lead and Pingry's on-staff ropes expert.
  • Develop hands-on, place-based learning activities leveraging Pottersville’s environment, farm, and historic landscape, aligning with curriculum.
  • Assist in Pottersville’s farm, garden, and greenhouse programs, aligning with Sustainability initiatives.
  • Student Immersion Experiences: Co-Chaperone day and overnight experiences; support trip leaders with risk management, parent communication, and logistics; collaborate with the Dean of Residential Life for residential life programming; support Middle and Upper School programs and Project Week.
  • Global Programs: Co-lead one Global Program per year; provide logistical support for Global Engagement, including field programs and hosting international exchanges.
  • Auxiliary and Summer Programs: Partner with Auxiliary Programs to lead/co-lead summer experiential programs at Pottersville and support Pingry Summer Day Camp; offer afternoon Enrichment Courses; design and support a scaffolded summer experience integrating ropes courses.
  • Faculty & Professional Development: Support faculty development for experiential learning across Pingry campuses and assist integration of experiential learning into curricula.
  • Program Coordination & Implementation: Provide administrative and logistical support for Pottersville and the Experiential Education Team; coordinate logistics, co-teach, and support day programs; assist with overnight program logistics with the Dean of Residential Life.
  • Resource Coordination & Community Engagement: Manage resources, technology, and AV needs; partner with Venue and Event Operations; collaborate with researchers and external organizations to enhance opportunities; foster an inclusive residential community.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in education with a focus on experiential learning.
