Import/Export Customer Service Representative
Our client, one of the largest seafood harvesting, processing, and distribution companies on the Eastern seaboard, is currently hiring an Import/Export Customer Service Representative for their Cape May, NJ location. The Import/Export Customer Service Representative will be responsible for supporting international sales and logistics operations by managing orders, preparing shipping documentation, and serving as the primary communication link between customers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant shipment processing while delivering excellent customer service throughout the shipping lifecycle.
- Enter and manage sales and purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
- Communicate with customers prior to shipment regarding labeling, loading, and documentation requirements
- Provide post-shipment follow-up with customers for document approval, payment processing, and Bill of Lading release
- Track and trace shipments, proactively updating customers on delivery status and resolving delays
- Coordinate with internal teams, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure smooth shipment execution
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company procedures
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer and partner interactions
- High attention to detail and accuracy when preparing and reviewing documentation
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve conflicts professionally and efficiently
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence
- Previous experience in import/export, logistics, or international trade (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with shipping documents and international logistics processes
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
This is a full-time position, eligible for overtime, with a salary range from $50,000 to $60,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, health reimbursement account, paid time off, holidays, and 401(K).
