We are searching for the best talent for a Director, Supply Chain Procurement - Advanced (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). This hybrid position will be located in Raritan or Titusville, New Jersey (USA) or Spring House, Pennsylvania.
In the Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (IMSC) team, we work to build a world without disease. This role leads a Procurement organization of 3 resources, supporting approximately $200MM in spend for Johnson & Johnson Companies, with significant growth expected over the next two years. The Director oversees global External Manufacturing (EM) and Critical Direct Materials and Service suppliers for new cell therapy manufacturing and automated manufacturing solutions, managing 80+ suppliers.
This involves collaboration with stakeholders from Supply Chain to R&D, requiring a supplier development mindset and strategic planning.
- Lead strategic sourcing process and implement sourcing strategy, aligning with long‑range requirements of business partners.
- Develop and lead price and cost initiatives, prepare and implement RFQs for complex sourcing decisions, and conduct negotiations with key suppliers.
- Collaborate with CEOs and supplier leadership to ensure J&J objectives—quality, reliability, innovation, and cost—are met.
- Deliver on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
- Conduct top‑to‑top meetings with key strategic suppliers, managing performance and reviews.
- Maintain deep subject‑matter expertise and informal grasp of industry/market dynamics.
- Advance issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization.
- Build and maintain relationships across J&J for broad perspectives and critical information.
Education:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s/University degree; advanced (MBA) or related advanced degree preferred in Business, Life Sciences, or related field.
- Certifications preferred: CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP/FPX.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with in Supply Chain and/or Procurement.
- Experience leading projects and change‑management initiatives, setting strategy direction.
- Strong business and finance competence.
- People leadership/management experience (direct or indirect reports) to lead cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize requests and propose cost or customer‑service alternatives.
- Judgment in developing innovative approaches and resolving issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex information.
- Influence skills (with/without direct authority) across multiple viewpoints.
- Continuous improvement focus.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in supplier management, performance, market analysis, category management, or Procurement Excellence.
- Experience in end‑to‑end supply‑chain initiatives, digital tools/technology adoption, and resiliency.
- Experience in Advanced Therapies (cell/gene therapy).
- Experience with technical, research‑based contracts, including complex IP‑and‑development clauses.
- Credibility with internal customers and supplier community.
- Track record in attracting and developing talent.
- Proven success in a major change role as architect and implementer.
