Job Description MASTER TECHNICIAN
Primary Duties:
- add value to each client’s transaction ensuring satisfaction with the purchase
- Use knowledge and technical skills to remove, repair, replace, or install automotive parts using safe tools, equipment, or manual procedures
- Perform other automotive mechanical services as needed and authorized
- Read and comprehend training manuals, service tickets, etc.
- Have extensive knowledge about vehicles and Western Auto services (brakes, alignment, air conditioning, suspension, front wheel assembly repair, and all installation jobs)
- Check basic elements of the vehicle per Western Auto methods for mechanical, electric, courtesy inspections
- Use diagnostic and alignment machines correctly
- Hold a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and ability to drive cars with manual or automatic transmissions
- Have own tools
- Handle fast‑paced work environment and stressful situations professionally
- Answer customer’s questions related to finished service work and vehicle issues
- Provide training and technical guidance to new associates and workmates
- Operate workshop lifts appropriately
- Be competitive and a team player
- Follow Western Auto and OSHA requirements to promote a safe workplace
- Follow EPA standards in work requirements, specifications, and materials management
- Perform maintenance tasks (sweeping/mopping workshop floor, cleaning/maintaining equipment, emptying garbage bins, cleaning parking area, etc.)
- Follow company guidelines regarding protection, safety, hygiene, and dress code
This job requires continually standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, turning around, climbing, and lifting/carrying weights up to 75 lbs (sometimes >75 lbs). Adapt to temperature changes (summer heat and winter cold). Perform additional tasks as required.
Master Technician Training Requirements- Maintains up‑to‑date ASE certification in: A4 Steering and Suspension, A5 Brakes, A6 Electronics/Electrical Systems, A7 Heating and Air Conditioning
- Possesses EPA‑approved R‑12/R134a certification for Recovery/Recycling
- Completes Western Auto/Parts America orientation training
