Overview
Oliver James is currently partnered with an established P&C firm seeking a Staff Accountant to support its core financial accounting and reporting functions. This role offers hands-on exposure to both statutory and GAAP accounting within a stable, financially sound environment.
Responsibilities- Analyze and maintain general ledger account balances
- Prepare and support monthly financial reports and accounting summaries
- Assist with account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Record financial transactions in accordance with STAT and GAAP
- Support expense allocation and cost distribution activities
- Apply applicable accounting standards and statutory regulations
- Identify process improvements and recommend enhancements to accounting procedures
- Participate in ad hoc accounting initiatives and projects
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in financial accounting (insurance experience preferred but not required)
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements
- Proficiency with Excel
- Experience with automated accounting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
