Utility Driver

Safety-Kleen Utility Driver / Driver Lead – New Haven, CT

Base Pay Range: $17.00/hr – $39.00/hr (Clean Harbors)

Safety-Kleen is looking for a Utility Driver/Driver Lead to join their team. The Utility Driver provides primary route coverage for the assigned district as well as other districts as needed to support vacation, sick time, and turnover.

• Ensures health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Provide safe, friendly, on‑time, quality customer service.
• Pick up waste oil at customer locations driving a Class B Tanker Truck, Box Trucks or Lube Delivery Truck.
• Mentor and train other drivers.
• Prepare waste loads for shipment to oil terminals.
• Serve as backup driver to cover routes when needed.
• Ensure waste/oil is stored safely and properly.
• Visit and service 8+ customers per day.

• Class B CDL required.
• Class A CDL strongly preferred.
• Previous experience driving tankers preferred.
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements upon hire.
• Ability to travel 80% of the time.
• Must be able to work weekends as needed.
• Help management train, guide and motivate employees.
• Think outside the box to solve issues in a timely, safe manner.
• Previous route service driving experience preferred.
• Previous experience being a team lead or alike.
• Excellent safety record required.
• Strong communication skills, able to prioritize and adjust when needed in a busy setting.
• Positive can‑do attitude.
• Proficient with computers.
