The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). invites its qualified agency employees to apply for the position of Transportation Maintenance Planner 1 in the Bureau of Highway Operations, District 3, New Haven.
Position Highlights- Full‑time, 40 hours per week
- Office/On‑site work
- Location:
District 3, New Haven - First shift, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Ample free parking with easy access from major highways or by public transportation
- Manage assets
- Schedule and review bridge maintenance and rehabilitation projects
- Review contracts, proposals, and specifications for materials, equipment, and contractual services
- Prepare progress/status reports and purchase order contracts
- Conduct field reviews of all CTDOT approved guiderail systems
- Control/purchase equipment and inventory
- Perform other duties as assigned

To be considered for this position you must be a current State of CT employee of the agency listed above for at least six (6) months of full‑time service and meet the Minimum Qualifications below.
Minimum Qualifications – General ExperienceFive (5) years of experience coordinating highway maintenance or related activities.
Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed- College training in civil engineering or a related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one‑half (½) year of experience, up to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience as a Transportation District Electrical Supervisor, Transportation District Services Agent 1, Transportation Engineer 1 (Construction Engineering) in Highway Maintenance, Transportation General Supervisor (Bridge Maintenance), or Transportation Supervisor (Bridge Maintenance) may be substituted for the General Experience.
- One (1) year of experience as a Transportation Landscape Designer 1 may be substituted for the General Experience.
- Three (3) years of experience as a Transportation Maintenance Crew Leader (Bridge Maintenance) (Electric Maintenance) (Highway Maintenance) (Signs and Marking) (Tree Maintenance) may be substituted for the General Experience.
- Four (4) years of experience as a Transportation Maintainer 4 responsible for highway maintenance projects or related activities may be substituted for the General Experience.
- Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.
- Experience in all aspects of office management and record‑keeping
- Experience with managing, arranging, and scheduling meetings/appointments using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams
- Experience processing confidential and time‑sensitive records
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, One Drive, Outlook)
- Experience managing and reconciling budgets, budget items, and receipts
- Experience determining competitive vendors for milling and paving of vendor‑in‑place projects
- Experience as a CTDOT representative conducting field inspections for various maintenance projects
- Incumbents may be required to travel.
- Incumbents may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
