Overview

The section of Cardiovascular Medicine is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Research Associate. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate the implementation and reporting activities of our research study. You will support the PI and research team by maintaining human research protocols, managing study data, patient recruitment, and communication with patients.

  • Supervises research within the scope of the established study protocol and adheres to all human subject regulations as defined by Yale University and the federal government that pertain to research studies.
  • Responsible for reviewing, planning, and implementing study protocols and assessing the impact of program changes on research quality.
  • Identifies and makes initial contact with potential funding sources to secure funds.
  • Oversees the planning of large multi‑site or global studies, establishes goals and objectives, training requirements, productivity goals, and financial parameters, and develops forms and questionnaires.
  • Works closely with research faculty and collaborators to identify quality and operational strategies for study components that need improvement.
  • Fosters and maintains cooperative relationships with principal investigators, collaborators, study coordinators, government officials, international partners, and study sponsors to ensure the safe and timely progression of studies and adherence to all regulations.
  • Develops original HIC/IRB submissions for multi‑site research and collaborates with various PIs on major revisions to incorporate changes at each participating site.
  • Uses advanced statistical knowledge to support data management and analysis.
  • Develops operational procedures for data collection, editing, verification, and statistical data management.

Skills And Abilities
  • Proven experience conducting and supporting all phases of clinical research, including data management and analysis.
  • Strong project and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with electronic data collection tools.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Designs, plans, implements, and evaluates complex, multifaceted research projects and systems, including method development, adaptation, and validation.
  • Stays abreast of technological and scientific developments in the field and determines when to incorporate them into experimental plans.
  • Establishes policies and procedures for research projects.
  • Solves complex methodological, protocol, procedural, and research problems through adaptation of new techniques that achieve research goals.
  • Formulates and implements short‑ and long‑range goals for the operation of the lab, sets priorities, assigns responsibilities, establishes timelines, and formulates operational strategies consistent with projects.
  • Manages a research facility, determining appropriate scientific techniques, equipment, and administrative procedures, and supervises exempt and non‑exempt staff.
  • Coordinates major lab renovations with Facilities, Health and Safety, and Purchasing to ensure deadlines, safety standards, and purchases are according to plans and within budgets.
  • Investigates, analyzes, and evaluates complex data and specialized data collection systems to reach scientific conclusions and ensure the integrity of research data.
  • Authors articles for research publications and professional journals.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
