Overview

The Research Associate 2, MS is responsible for Laboratory management including ordering supplies, maintenance of EHS and IACUC protocols, and maintenance of animal colony. Perform experiments and laboratory techniques for pre-clinical research focusing on skin cancer and T cell leukemia/lymphoma treatment strategies under the direction of the PI. This will include documenting, compiling, analyzing, and presenting data, and interaction with the PI, other laboratory staff, fellows, students, Environmental Health and Safety and Animal Care staff to perform research and maintain safe daily laboratory operation.

This position is fully onsite and there could be work outside of traditional work hours (not often).

Required

Skills And Abilities
  • Proven experience with mouse colony management and various molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a lab perform independent research and laboratory techniques, and to analyze and interpret experimental data. Strong organizational, analytical, and training skills with the ability to manage complex research projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and work both independently and as part of a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail.
  • Proven experience with standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, cell culture) and managing lab operations.
  • High level of proficiency in relevant laboratory software and data analysis tools.
Preferred

Skills And Abilities
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a related scientific discipline, with prior experience in managing lab staff and operations.
  • Expertise in molecular biology, next-generation sequencing technologies, and lab automation.
  • Proven experience with laboratory management, including budgeting, procurement, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Strong background in scientific writing and communication for research publications and grant proposals.
Preferred Education And Skills
  • Proven experience using the Workday Requisition process.
  • Proven experience maintaining EHS and IACUC protocols.
  • Proven experience in mouse handling, colony management and mouse research techniques such as injections, tumor assessment, and isolation of a variety of tissues and cell populations.
  • Proven experience with cell culture, cell subset purification, in vitro cell based assays.
  • Proven experience with flow cytometry including multi-color sample preparation, data collection and analysis.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Designs, plans, implements and evaluates complex multifaceted research projects/systems, including method development, adaptation and validation.
    2. Collaborates with PI to define research endeavors and the development of research hypothesis and approach.
    3. Solves complex methodology, protocol, procedural and research problems through design of techniques, procedures and policies that will achieve research goals.
    4. Develops long range plans for supplies and equipment to ensure smooth operation of laboratory.
    5. Investigates, analyzes and evaluates complex data, data collection systems and methods to reach scientific conclusions and ensures the integrity of research data.
    6. Collaborates with PI to coordinate major lab renovations working with Facilities, Health and Safety, and Purchasing to ensure deadlines, safety standards and purchases are according to plans and within budgets.
    7. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
