Overview
The Research Associate will be working on studies on the immune profiling of children and adults with high risk conditions such as sickle cell disease. Our group conducts lab based and epidemiological studies to assess vaccine immunogenicity, efficacy and effectiveness for different vaccines. We utilize multicolor flow cytometry and CyTOF to interrogate innate immune pattern recognition receptor (PRR) function. We use in-depth single cell profiling from whole blood analysis of age-related chronic inflammation to evaluate Toll-like Receptor (TLR), RIG-I, and NLRP3 function at baseline and following ex vivo stimulation with specific PRR ligands.
We also assess the expansion of T-cell and B-cell subsets following vaccination, including in vitro stimulation with vaccine strains to identify antigen-specific responses.
The Research Associate will perform independent research and laboratory techniques and participate in experimental research planning. Will work independently to develop manage and organize multi-site studies. Ensures data results are compiled, analyzed, and presented properly. Will supervise and train other team members and students on study related tasks including flow cytometry and analysis.
