Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience with strong trauma case independence.
Responsibilities- Acute care Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds
- Operating Room unit serving a complex surgical patient population including trauma, craniotomy, vascular, endovascular, and robotic cases
- 3x12-hour shifts with a rotating day/evening/night schedule based on unit needs
- Schedules are issued in 6-week blocks and distributed 2 weeks in advance; travelers are generally placed on night shifts for approximately one week per schedule block
- Day shift: 7:00–19:00;
Night shift: 19:00–7:00 - Weekend availability required
- On-call required, with a maximum of 2 on-call shifts per week; on-call shifts are typically scheduled on already-assigned workdays but may occasionally fall on separate days
- Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- Charting via Epic
- Parking available at approximately $125/month
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
- Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler
- RTO of up to 7 days may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
- Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID-19 vaccination exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
- Must be able to circulate independently; scrub experience highly preferred
- Must be independent with all trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endovascular procedures
- Robotics and orthopedic experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience in a large trauma center setting required
- Active nursing license must be free of any prior disciplinary actions
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
