Position Overview
• Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join a busy Neurosurgery Ambulatory team.
• Opportunity to practice at the top of licensure while managing an independent patient panel in a multisite clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive ambulatory care to neurosurgery patients, with a primary focus on post-operative follow-ups and ongoing management.
• Independently manage a patient panel, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and coordination of care.
• Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons and multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using EPIC.
Schedule & Work Environment
• Monday–Friday schedule.
• No weekends, nights, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.
• Multisite clinic coverage within the neurosurgery program.
Qualifications
• Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant).
• New graduates are welcome to apply.
• Prior experience in neurosurgery or a related specialty preferred.
• Demonstrated strong clinical judgment, autonomy, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities (Detailed)
• 1. Clinical Care — The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs as part of an interdisciplinary team. Practices according to state law, hospital policy, protocols, and clinical pathways; may provide autonomous team-based care. Obtains histories, performs exams, reviews tests, formulates management plans; may perform procedures and prescribe within scope. May function as first or second assistant on operative cases as allowed by scope and prerequisites.
• 2. Patient Education & Psychosocial Support — Educates patients/families on care and resources; provides psychosocial support in collaboration with the supervising/collaborating physician.
• 3. Information Management — Ensures appropriate documentation and protects patient information in accordance with regulations.
• 4. Quality Management — Demonstrates professionalism and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
• 5. Professional Development — Engages in projects to maintain/advance competency; may serve as a clinical resource, mentor, preceptor, and participate in research or quality improvement projects.
Education
Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Experience
Prefer clinical working experience as an NP/PA within the given specialty/service line, but none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs and CNMs must be appointed and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence must be obtainable during appointment.
Licensure
Active PA Certification (NCCPA), Connecticut State PA License, and related certifications (ACLS/BLS; DEA where indicated; PALS/NRP as applicable). Additional licensure or CE credits may be required based on position and specialty.
