Position: Acute care APP (Part Time)

Acute Care Pediatric Surgery Experience Preferred.

NP/PA license required;
Pediatric NP or Family NP certification required.

Part‑time position: 6:30am – 4:30pm.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care – The Physician Assistant (PA) or the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Works in accordance with state law, hospital regulations, and protocols. Performs medical histories, physical examinations, orders tests, formulates and manages treatment plans, and may perform procedures as allowed by scope.
  • Patient Education & Psychosocial Support – Educates patients/families on care and resources, including treatment plans and potential side effects. Provides psychosocial support as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Information Management – Ensures appropriate documentation and protects patient information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Quality Management – Demonstrates high standards of moral and ethical behavior, compliance with regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Professional Development – Engages in projects that maintain and advance competency, serves as a resource for new staff, reports safety events, and may serve as a preceptor or mentor.
Qualifications Education
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Experience
  • Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.
  • APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and go through the credentialing process, providing evidence of current competence.
Licensure
  • Active PA certification, Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS certification, and DEA license (when indicated).
  • Pediatric position profile PALS (when indicated for neonatal care), NRP certification.
  • Additional licensure, certifications, and continuing education may be required based on position and specialty.
  • Alternatively, Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, board specialty certification as appropriate.
